Our various training programmes are based on our organisational needs and the requisites shared by our employees. We form a training calendar to meet various technical, behavioural, managerial and leadership development needs.
At the entry level, we have an extensive induction and training program for Graduate Engineer Trainees (GETs) having an optimum mix of theory and practical. We have established a training academy at Durgapur. The academy is run by a senior manager and develops GETs by making them undergo extensive training program which includes classroom and practical training on Carbon Black, soft skills, certification courses through gurukul, on job assignments, job rotations etc. The objective is to enhance the technical capabilities of the engineers so as they can deliver immediately post training.
To integrate new employees into our culture, we make them a part of the Company even before they join us by giving them access to our HR portal – “HR Connect” which has all the HR policies and processes and the latest updates on what is happening in the Company at each of the units.
On Day 1 of joining, an HR person introduces the new joinee to all the present employees on a one-to-one basis and a 3-day induction program is designed whereby the employee spends time with each of the functional heads in order to understand the business and our processes. SAP training is also part of the induction. New joinees joining at HO are also sent to plant for 2 days for overall understanding of the plant functions.
For Management Trainees (MT), after a 10-day induction at the Head Office, they are posted at the Plant for one month. This helps them to understand the technology and process involved in production of carbon black. They are also given Regional Office exposure. MTs are posted at the Regional Office for one month and a project is also assigned to them.
At the entry level, we have an extensive induction for Graduate Engineer Trainees (GETs) having an optimum mix of theory and practical.
At the corporate level, RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group induction is also organised for employees joining at a Manager and above grade. This induction orients new joinees on all RP-SG businesses.
For the growth of the organisation, it is essential that our employees are involved in handling different assignments which will enhance their overall capability. We also rotate employees in different job functions to ensure their interest level in the Company and an overall understanding of the Company is attained.
Every year, we also form a Young Executive Board to work on different projects, apart from their normal work. This board is functional in identifying and developing the future business leaders in the organisation. The members are also exposed to different workshops, assignments where the organisation can benefit from the ideas from high-calibre, young professionals in the areas of strategic importance to the Company.
Besides the regular employee development programmes and training sessions, at every PCBL location, there is a Fun@Work committee that organises different cultural programmes to create excitement in the work place, especially on occasions like Diwali, Christmas etc.
